La Fortuna Waterfall is produced by the waters of the Fortuna River and by tributaries located in the mountains of the area, located just 5 kilometers from the town of La Fortuna and 70 meters high, and to reach the base you must go down (and then climb) the more than 500 steps that bridge the gap from the entrance to the bathing area of ​​the waterfall with a total of 20 minutes of travel.

First it is done with trained horses, on whose way you can see pastures, forest and high hills, in addition to perceiving an extraordinary view of the San Carlos Valley. Then there will be a walk through duly marked trails and volcanic rocks will be observed in the vicinity of the waterfall.

Also, think about the experience it can be to bathe in the waterfall while it is raining. It’s definitely worth it! The only thing you have to be careful with is stairs to avoid slipping.
  • Can I visit La Fotuna Waterfall and another place on the same day?
